I'm looking for an IC that would take analog signals through an external audio source in and convert it into a MIDI output. Is there a chip that does this? Alternatively any form of digital output would also be acceptable. Is there a class of chips that does this?

Thank you!

Hello,

We do not have any DSP that convert external analog audio source into MIDI output.

Our latest ADSP-SC5xx processors are Multicore SHARC+ARM SOC Delivers 24GFLOPS Performance at Under 2W for Advanced Real-Time Audio and Industrial Applications. You would find more information about these processors in the below link.
http://www.analog.com/en/products/landing-pages/001/adsp-sc58x-adsp-2158x-series.html

For instance, we have ADZS-SC589-EZLITE to evaluate our ADSP-SC589 processor, which has on board ADC and DAC can be used for your audio requirement.

You can browse several example codes related to ADSP-SC58x Ez-kit once you download and install its Board Support Package (BSP), the link for BSP is given below.
http://download.analog.com/tools/EZBoards/SC5xx/Releases/Release_2.0.2/ADI_ADSP-SC5xx_EZ-KIT_Lite-Rel2.0.2.exe

The example code can be seen in the below path,
C:\Analog Devices\ADSP-SC5xx_EZ-KIT_Lite-Rel2.0.2\ADSP-SC5xx_EZ-KIT\Examples

ADC/DAC related driver example code can be found in the below path,
