Visual DSP++ software not working
Hello Sir,
I am using Visual DSP++ software 5.1.2 for testing my Tiger Sharc (TS201) processors on the board.
Here I have 3 Tiger sharc processors in the JTAG chain.
On my board, I am able to load .dxe file in all 3 processors. But while executing them, Visual DSP is not able to set automatic break points. I tried manually inserting break points, but its not getting set.
I am sure that my codes are OK,.as these codes have run on other boards and have successful results.
Please suggest what can be the issue?
Thanks & regards,
Dhananjay Mathane

Hello Sir, I always get a dialog box popup error - stating "Fail to set automatic breakpoints at main", "Fail to set automatic breakpoints at _lib_prog_term" whenever I try to load .dxe file in the processor.
Thanks & regards,

Hi Dhananjay,
When a DXE is loaded, the IDDE attempts to set certain default breakpoints - including one at the start of main, and a few for specific event handling code (like the stack overflow exception). If the internal IDDE function that sets breakpoints fails for any reason, this error is returned to the IDDE.
The most common reason this occurs is that the location of the breakpoint in question is in external memory, and the external memory interface is not correctly configured. The IDDE, by default, only takes steps to configure the external memory interface of a target for a debug session where that target matches an EZ-KIT Lite.
I believe that you are using custom hardware, if so I would recommend that you use a Custom Board Support File to configure these registers to values suitable for your target.
For more information on this behaviour and Custom Board Support Files, I recommend reading the following FAQ on our Engineer Zone, and the relevant documentation:
ez.analog.com/.../faq-my-application-behaves-incorrectly-when-using-sdram
Please let us know if the 'Failed to set automatic breakpoint...' message still occurs after ensuring this is taken care of.
And also please ensure that you have enabled the "General debug information(-g)" option, which directs the compiler to output symbols and other information used by the debugger.
To Enable this option go to the project > Project Options > Compile > General > Generate Debug Information.Check this option is in enable condition.
