startin project with sigmaDSP
Hi guys,
I have to start a project which include a sigmaDSP processor. For me is a first experience of programming this kind of DSP.
The project consists in a multi-way loudspeaker processing for a Studio Monitor. I have to ensure minimum noise for quite tweeter and a standard processing like crossover,eq and limiter.
Which is the best choice to start with it?
I was thought to buy the evaluation board for ADA1467.

Hello Alez_22,
SigmaDSP is really easy to program and the learning curve is quick. It is even faster since I will attach an example project of a three-way crossover with the features you mentioned. About the only thing I would change on this is to gain up the input signal by like 15 or 20dB and then reduce it by the same amount at the output to take advantage of the headroom in the DSP and improve the resolution of low level signals since you will have a lot of gain after the DSP.
The ADAU1467 is the largest of our processors. There are a few reasons you might want to use it. It does have 8 AUX ADCs for external controls and it has a lot more memory for things like delays. The SPDIF also goes up to 192kHz. But this application is not too intensive so you might be able to use the ADAU1452 instead. It only has 6 AUX ADCs and the SPDIF will only go up to 96kHz.
So it would be good to sort of map out your design. Hoe many input and output channels? Sampling rates? Signal sources? Digital or analog outputs? Will there be a system controller to take in settings etc. These DSP processors can operate without a controller and you can bring in external controls to do level controls, calibration controls, preset selections etc. If you map all that out with a block diagram it helps to determine the details of the system.

Hi, thanks a lot for the answer.
I have attached at this post a figure where I illustrate my configuration.
Actually I'm developing a main board which I would like to use in several products but in figure below there is a good representative architecture.

In yellow i put the blocks that don't change in runtime, instead in blu i put the parameters that can change in runtime.
I suppose that I will use also the ADAU1452 instead of ADAU1467.
Meanwhile I bought an ADAU1467 evalutation board hoping I can use the same scheme with less powerfoul DSPs.
