I'm using ADAU1466, where is used Standard RMS block. Compressor is set 100:1, expander 1:1 . Signal to input is Sin 0dB,

When I measure output to input, there is strange damping:

Threeshold 0dB and measured output to input has -0.97dB

Threeshold -1dB and measured output to input -1.37dB

and next setting of threshold causes measured output to input

-2dB ... -1.74dB

-3dB ... -2.11dB

-4dB ... -3.08dB

-5dB ... -4.07dB

My question is, why there is not linear damping from threshold from 0..-3dB ?

I test standard Peak block, there is the same problem .. first 0...-3dB threeshold not dumps output linearly

Hello AndreJ,

I would like to see how you are measuring this?

Most of our compressors do not have a sudden change from compressing to no compressing. There is a soft knee. If you look the compressor spline curve values in the params window you will see where the multiplier is zero and where it is changing the gain. So it all depends on which multiplier is used. Also, if the level falls between these points we interpolate the multiplication factor.

So your levels you stated all depends on what the curve settings are on the compressor.

Zip up and attach your project to show how you are measuring this.

This has been measured with Audio Precision - Portable One Plus Access device - https://www.ap.com/download/portable-one-plus-access-full-specifications-2/

rspe here is info about analyzer too

Hello Andrej,

I know the AP Portable 1+ very well. I have personally owned one since 1993. It has traveled all over the world with me. It is a great product. Too bad it is discontinued.

So how are you interfacing to the DSP?

Are you using your own board or our evaluation board?

The levels you are listing in your tests, was it in the compression range at the time?

Please send over a project. I would like to see the compressor curve coefficients and also see where you were on the curve with the levels you specified. I am not even certain which compressor you are using? If you are using the one with the meters and the dancing ball then you can see where you are on the curve. You can take screenshots of your starting and ending levels. The rest is a little difficult to explain.
