Using variable inputs from a pot attached to an adc

Hi,

I'm looking to vary the strength of a filter via a potentiometer (like a variable volume on bass boost, for example)

I've worked out how to get a pot to adjust the volume, using the dedicated volume block for use with an external variable controller, however adjusting the strength of a single filter seems to be eluding me.
