I have both adau1701 and 176x DSPs. I want to send the DSP filter, oscillator, etc settings over i2s. Is this possible?

I want to be able to send various settings to the DSP though i2s from a microprocessor. Mostly oscillator settings, switch on/off, math values if possible. Single word values is all that is needed possibly through a register? This wouldn't be audio samples coming over the I2S, just word values.

Thanks,

Jerry

Hello Jerry,

You should search the forum. There are many examples of this on the forum but most are about specific topics. You are asking about many things so take it one step at a time.

One suggestion I have is to learn how SigmaStudio communicates with the DSP. When you use SigmaStudio, the program is not running on the computer, it is running on the DSP and SigmaStudio is only communicating with the objects running in the DSP. So watch the Capture Window when clicking on object to control the DSP program. You will see what is being sent to the DSP. In addition, in the lower part of the Capture Window you will find a tab for the Params window. This is where you can look at the contents of the parameter memory. This is where all the control of these objects happen. You can see it change in real time and you can hit refresh to see what has changed. You can also enter in new values and control the objects directly. The values are shown in three different number formats which is super helpful.

Some of what you asked about is really simple to do but some are a bit more involved. Filter settings usually require sending new filter coefficients so that can be a bit tricky.
