Regarding EVAL-ADAU1466Z
Dear Team,
I am an active researcher looking forward to provide an Active Noise Cancellation solution to a potential customer.
I was going through the data sheet EVAL-ADAU1466Z_UG-1135.pdf.
Our typical use case is that we have an audio source (Music) and 1 MIC (to pick noise from 2 different region).
I want an output with noise cancelled. By looking at your data sheet, I didn't understood how to connect the Analog MIC for noise feedback. However, you description shows that it supports active noise cancellation. Secondly, apart from the hardware, do we need to develop any additional algorithm or is it completely standalone. If additional software is required, which is the IDE that I need to use.
In summary, I would like to know what needs to be done to achieve ambient active noise cancellation with EVAL-ADAU1466Z.
Could you please give me some information on the same?
Thanks and regards
Libin Jose
Hello Libin,
Thanks for your post. To your first question, regarding connecting an analog microphone to the ADAU1466: while analog inputs are available on the EVAL-ADAU1466Z, they are achieved by the use of a secondary audio codec (in this case, the AD1938). The ADAU1466 does not have any analog inputs (only digital), so it will need an additional codec or external ADC in order to interface with analog microphones.
Next: in order to program the ADAU1466, please download our SigmaStudio software here: https://www.analog.com/en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/software/ss_sigst_02.html. SigmaStudio will allow you to build your audio signal flow in a simple drag-and-drop environment, then use it to program the ADAU1466.
Now, as far as noise cancellation goes: the ADAU1466 may not be the correct part for your application. While there are various noise reduction algorithms available on the ADAU1466, they are not the same as active noise cancellation. The ADAU1466 does not operate with low enough latency to perform active noise cancellation. For ANC, I recommend that you take a look at the ADAU1787, which is a newly-released part that's optimized for exactly that purpose. As an added benefit for your application, it also has four built-in ADCs and two DACs, which allow for analog microphone connections.

Dear TylerK,
Can you let me the cost of EVAL-ADAU1787Z board and the lead time?
Thanks and regards
Libin Jose.
Hi Libin,
The evaluation board ordering information is located towards the bottom of this page: https://www.analog.com/en/products/adau1787.html#product-samplebuy
According to that page, the board cost is $399.00, and will be available on 11 September.
