IP camera reference designs
Hi,
I am looking for some IP/Surveillance camera reference designs for a new project. The project involves designing a camera which records when motion is detected and requires saving/uploading the up the media in to a cloud server(using a Wi-Fi chip). i would like to find some details(application notes/reference docs, examples codes, supported image sensors/camera modules) about the solutions.
The list of main requirements for the project is given below:-
- Video quality of 720p@30fps(or higher)
- Processor with an inbuilt camera interface(MIPI/Parallel, support for both interface is highly recommended)
- Support for image sensor's from different manufacturers
- Support(libraries/drivers) for different Wi-Fi chip's

Hi Jibin Raj,
Thanks for your interest in Analog Devices Processors.
The ADSP-BF60X and ADSP-BF70X are the processors in Blackfin family. The ADSP-BF60x processors are the Dual-Core processor up to 1GHz with Hardware Support for HD Video Analytic. The ADSP-BF70x processors are the latest Low Power 400MHz Blackfin+ embedded processor with 1MByte L2 SRAM & DDR2/LPDDR Interface.
You can get more information about Blackfin processors in the below link:
www.analog.com/.../blackfin.html
We have Processors Software and Tools page that provides a convenient look-up table to indicate to users what evaluation platforms, extender cards, emulators, software development tools, and middle-ware are available for the specific processors you have chosen to evaluate for your designs.

Considering your requirement, I would suggest you to have a look at our BLIP2 board (ADZS-BF707-BLIP2). It is capable to targeting a vast array of real-time sensing applications like intelligent motion sensing, people counting, vehicle detection, and face detection deployable in both indoor and outdoor use cases.
The BLIP system includes an intuitive configuration GUI and enables real-time analysis of captured video, as well as video output/display through an on-board USB port, making it a highly valuable tool for product development.
Please follow the given link to know more about ADZS-BF707-BLIP2.

For more details on pricing and availability questions, please contact your nearest ADI sales and distributors. Please find the link given below.

We have evaluation kits available for different processors which will provide a platform for customer to evaluate our DSPs. When you navigate through our product specific page you would find its evaluation platform with associate.
If you can provide more information on other requirements from the external interfaces, the speed grade, memory requirements, package, which you are looking for, then we can help you narrow down to select the right derivative in processor family.
Hope this helps!

Hi Anand
Thanks for the reply(and sorry for the later response), theADSP-BF60X and ADSP-BF70X processors looks likes great products. But I am not if we could use these for our design, some of the doubts that i has, have been listed below:-
- Does the processor has support for any image sensor that supports 720p@30fps(as the camera sensor in the ADZS-BF707-BLIP2 board is a VGA sensor).
-Does these or any other blackfin procesors support MIPI-CSI interface(the image sensor manufacturers does not make that much sensors which has parallel interface)
-Does the BF60X/BF70X processor supports hardware h.264(720p 30fps) encoding.
We would really like to use these processors for our design as these are cheaper than all the other reference that we have, so looking forward to hearing from you.

Jibin Raj
Hi Jibin Raj,
Both ADSP-BF70x and ADSP-BF609 supports 720p@30fps via EPPI interface. These processors also has support for H.264 encoders. Unfortunately, MIPI-CSI interface is not supported on either of these Blackfin processors.

Hi,
Thanks for the support, we will look in to both design.
Thanks and Regards,
Jibin
