Hi Ashok,

Can you please let me know what are all the peripherals that you are using in your current design and what are all the peripherals that you would need to carry forward to new design. Note that there no drop in replacement available for the obsolete TigerSharc.

Our SHARC processor offers a mix of high performance processing with the large on chip memory and peripheral set in a low cost floating point product. The new series provides designers with end-to-end SHARC family code compatibility and a robust suite of ADI development tools to realize new levels of development efficiency and design innovation via the industry’s highest-performing 32-bit floating point DSP platform.

The advanced SHARC Family features, Dedicated hardware accelerators (FIR,FFT,IIR etc), Variable Instruction Set Architecture (VISA) support, additional processing element for Single Instruction, Multiple data (SIMD) support making them particularly suitable for high performance audio applications.

Can you please refer the selection tables of SHARC processors, which can be found in the following link.

The latest ADSP-SC5xx processors are Multicore SHARC+ARM® SOC Delivers 24GFLOPS Performance at Under 2W for Advanced
Real-Time Audio and Industrial Applications. You would find more information about these processors in the below link.

Hi Anand,

Thank You Very Much for your reply ,

On TS201 Custom board FPGA, AD664,AD9244,BU67301B,29W320EB used in Parallel port interface , and 16k point FFT 1024 Tap FIR used

If i consider SC-589 , which port can i used for parallel devices ?

Regards

Ashok

Hi Ashok,

The ADSP-SC589 processors provide an enhanced parallel peripheral interface (EPPI) that supports data widths up to 24 bits. The EPPI is a half-duplex, bidirectional port with a dedicated clock pin andthree frame sync (FS) pins. It can support direct connections to active TFT LCDs, parallel A/D and D/A converters, video encoders and decoders, image sensor modules and other general-purpose peripherals. The ADSP- SC58x processors also supports advanced FFT/FIR/IIR hardware accelerators.

For more information on ADSP-SC589, please refer the product page in the below link.

Hi Ashok,

You can refer the schematic I shared in the previous mail, since the ADSP-SC589 Ez-board is having serial NOR flash (W25Q128FV). Please let me know if you need further assistance on this.

Hi Ashok,

Please let me know are you trying to boot the processor via Parallel NOR flash? If yes, it is not possible in the ADSP-SC58x processors.

If not, can you please explain about your requirement in detail.

Regards,
Anand Selvaraj.

Not for booting ,some tuned parameter storage purpose !! Static memory Controller (SMC) is the right port that i can directly interface NOR flash ?

Hi Ashok,

Yes, your understanding is correct. You can interface a NOR flash via SMC.
