USB to I2S Bridge
Hello,
We develop an A2B system for automotive.
I intend to use as Audio Host an ADAU1452 and the Target Processor is an Atom based PC.
I need to send three separate digital audio signals from the PC USB ports to the A2B connected devices and my intention is to send these signals, using the ADAU1452 Serial Inputs.
We bought the EVAL-AD2428WD1BZ Evaluation Board and I tried to use a Silicon Labs USB to I2S Bridge Evaluation Board, made with CP2615 chip. I defined the CP2615 as master and a Serial Input of ADAU1452 as slave.
Apparently CP2615 and ADAU1452 are not compatible, probably because the BCLK of CP2615 is bursty. I assume this because on Silicon Labs site I found now a Table where some Analog Devices Sigma DSP's (not ADAU1452) are classified as incompatible.
Could you recommend another USB to I2S Bridge, compatible with ADAU1452 Serial Inputs, or an alternative solution to inject the digital signals?
Thanks,
Gabriel

What about clocking it the other way around? ADAU as master and CP2615 as slave.
Unfortunately the CP2615 can only operate as I2S Master.
Hello,
I drafted a reply to this over a month ago and thought I'd posted it already. I apologize for the delay.
At this time ADI cannot guarantee compatibility between the CP2615 and ADAU1452 because we don't have an easy way to generate a similar I2S test signal with our test equipment. The bursty bit clock is not something I have seen before.
However there is no immediate technical reason I can think of why the interfaces would not be compatible with proper configuration. I would like to learn more about the setup where you tried this; perhaps we can find a solution. Is this project still active?

Based on the linked thread, it appears that the CP2615 is incompatible with SigmaDSP devices, largely due to a discontinuous BCLK signal.

Is this an issue even If I route input signal through ASRC?
I think it will be an issue, yes. The ASRC needs a continuous clock to detect the incoming sample rate. With BCLK stopping between audio frames this would be a problem.
