Hello all,

The datasheet of the ADAU1450 states that digital output ports cannot be used to drive a LED (page 8: $Electrical Characteristics, Digital Input/Output). Nothing is said explicit about the multipurpose pins. Does anyone know if the outputs MP0, MP1, MP2, MP3, MP6 and MP7 may be used to connect a led?

Thanks for thinking with me :-)

Hello Reini,

The ADAU1450 is not designed to provide static DC current on its digital outputs. This includes MP0 through MP7.

Generally people use "jellybean" inverters, buffers, or line drivers to drive LEDs. You may wish to refer to evaluation board schematics for examples of how this is done.

Thank you Joshua. I now used a few pnp digital transistors (PDTA114EU) to drive the led's :-) They had to be pnp, because the bi-color led we used more often has a common cathode.

With kind regards,
