How do I self boot the eval board w/o the USB dongle? It only seems to boot if the dongle is attached and powered.

Thanks,
Larry Y.

Hello Larry,

This is outlined in the user guide. Just be sure to disable the selfboot when you program the EEPROM, then turn it back on afterwards and hit the reset and it should boot up provided the EEPROM was written to properly.

Here is the link to the user guide. The instructions start on page 22.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply and information.

I also discovered that the USB dongle has to be unplugged from the eval board in order to self boot (not just from the host).

Thanks,
Larry Y.

Hello Larry,

Yes, if you unplug the USBi from the host computer then it no longer has power. The result is that the reset line is held low to the eval board and holds the eval board in reset. Not to mention the issues with the I2C or SPI busses. So yes, the USBi 10-way ribbon needs to be disconnected if you unplug the USB cable from the host.

I often have the eval board selfboot when the USBi is connected. That is not the problem as long at SigmaStudio is not trying to program the unit. Then once it selfboots you can click on Link/Compile/Connect and be able to change objects running in the DSP and look at metes etc., provided the program loaded into SigmaStudio is the same exact program that is loaded into the EEPROM.

Hello Dave,

I have the same problem. however, I follow the protocol of the evaluation board guide.
I click on the Link-Compile-Download button.
then I deactivate switch No. 1 of SW3.
I select "Self-priming memory", then
"Write the last compilation via DSP".
After I revalidate switch N ° 1 of SW3, then I do a reset.
But it does not restart.
your opinion ?

Hello,

Did you perform a "Check EEPROM through DSP"?

I know these functions work on the eval boards. When you say "activate" and "deactivate" Are you looking at the Selfboot LED? The reason I am asking is that the switch has a label "on". When it is switched to the "ON" position the Selfboot is actually Off.
