Hey there,

Currently exploring a new architecture to move our patented surround sound algorithm to - am playing with the ADAU1467 evaluation board and the SigmaStudio.

One building block i can't find is a way to multiply an audio signal with a varying dc value derived from other processing. There is gain control but it's a fixed-value box, and there is a multiplier but it seems to require analog input - at least when i try to use a probe to multiply the stimulus with a DC input block, it does nothing or does not behave as expected.

Is there no multiplier that can be connected to an external variable dc value?

Cheers

`David

Hello David,

SigmaStudio's Stimulus/Probe functionality is very useful for monitoring filter responses, but it does have some limitations. One of them is that multiplier cells are not evaluated.

Forum member KJBob made a wonderful post outlining the capabilities and limitations of the Stimulus/Probe blocks. I highly recommend you take a look:

Rest assured that you can use the ADAU1467 to multiply an audio signal by a DC source. Here is a schematic showing this in action. Note that the level meter on the right is 6dB higher than the one on the left, which is what we expect from a gain of 2.
