KKSL Question

Hello,

I am making a jump from ADAU1701 to either ADAU1462/66 or ADAU1463/67.

From the datasheet, it is obvious that the 63/67 has more hardware resources in the form of # of AUXADC, and GPIO pins.

Besides these is there any makor distinguishing features that should help me decide which of the two I should jump into?

My intention behind the jump from ADAU1701 is to explore more applications and capabilities like ASRC, block processing etc.

Thanks in advance for any inputs.

KKSL.

Hello,

The processing power of ADAU1463/1467 and ADAU1462/1466 are identical.

The ADAU1463/67 have 88 pins instead of the 72 pins of ADAU1462/66, which allows more hardware interfaces.

In addition to providing more AUXADC and GPIO pins, the ADAU1463/67 offer eight SDATAIOx pins which allow more channels of I2S data to be input/output by the processor. These data lines attach to the clocks of the primary serial ports.

For example, say you are using the ADAU1463/67 and you have an 8-channel ADC which provides LRCLK, BCLK, and four stereo I2S data lines. You could use Serial Input 0 and three SDATAIOx pins to capture this data. This would leave you three fully-featured input ports and five SDATAIOx pins still available, whereas on the ADAU1462/66 you would have no inputs left.

ADAU1463/67 also allow you to move the I2C master port to a secondary set of pins which are not shared with the SPI master port. This allows more complex master port configurations. For example, the DSP can self boot very quickly from an SPI EEPROM, and then configure a CODEC over I2C, while keeping the I2C and SPI interfaces electrically independent.

In short, the ADAU1463/67 offer more flexibility in hardware configuration while providing the same processing power as their 72-pin counterparts.
