TDM8 while using ASRCs
Hi everyone!
Would appreciate if someone could please clarify a few ambiguities that lie obscured in the usage of the EVAL ADAU!452 REvBZ board.
First thing first
I have an Input SPORT (TDM8 MAster) which sends out TDM8 data across to an output SPORT (which is also TDM8 MAster)
I use the SDATAIN0 block in Sigma Studio at the input but use the ASRC blocks at the output
For channel 1 there is no output
Please Note: I have correctly selected the Sout Source within the ASRC Routing Matrix as well as the ASRC have been configured and selected to behave typical of what is expected from an output block (like selecting the ASRC from DSP channel etc)
Now can you elucidate on whether its possible to verify this and can you please zip up a project that could illustrate the same
Hello Annihilate_123
I have two projects I am attaching.
The first is a TDM test project I put together a little while back. One is a test of TDM8. It has an oscillator that goes to 8 outputs. Those 8 outputs go out of serial port 0 as one TDM8 stream.
Then external to the DSP on the evaluation board you have to jumper Serial Output port 0 over to serial input port 2. I explain it further in the SigmaStudio project in comments boxes.
Then in SigmaStudio I took the serial input port 2 and sent those signals to VU meters. The meters should read -3dB. Then you can individually mute the outputs and see the corresponding channels VU meter go away. The levels of the other channels should not change when you do that.
Then the second project sends the output of the DSP core to the ASRCs 0 -3. Then I setup the ASRCs to use the Serial Output port 0 clocks and setup serial output port 0 to get its signals from the ASRCs.
There is actually no sample rate conversion happening since all the clocks are set to 48kHz. Serial output port 0 is set as a slave so it will follow the clock from Serial Input port 0 since that is set to be a master and there will be jumpers installed between the two ports.
It does not make any sense to setup an ASRC jumpered back to the DSP like this but it shows the setup of how it can follow a sample rate on the output side of the DSP and the input as a master.
I also need to mention that this is not the optimal way to setup serial ports. It is best to have the serial input port be a slave and the output port be a master. This gives you the most timing margin for the data and if there are plans to use 192kHz fs then I strongly suggest you setup the clocking in the system with the inputs as a slave and the outputs as a master.
