Hi All,

I am new the ADAU1787 and completed my first signal route successfully yesterday. I was able to send audio through my ADAU1787Z development board without issue. I setup a signal into AIN2/3 J22 from a tablet headphone jacket and routed it to Stereo Out J23 to headphones. I am glad that this board is working properly and now have to proceed to making it process a bunch of signals. I have been through and viewed the tree of design blocks in the toolbox and see that there are two primary groups sigma and fast. I have also viewed all of the tabs in the hardware configuration including the main CTRL tab which appears to be an overview of all possible routes through the DSP for signals and a visual guide to what connections and processors are on and off via switches.

After going through all of this yesterday and thinking about all the applications I'd like to use this for I realized that it might be helpful to make a simple input and output map that includes what routing is handled by the main schematic that I draw, what part is handled by the Main CTRL, what is handled by other tabs to help as I grow my understanding of this DSP. I have some initial question that related to the difficulty that I had after my first project yesterday that have to do with the flow between the two DSPs in the IC.

The first configuration that I tested yesterday was with the schematic connected:

AIN2/3 -> ADC2 and ADC3 this went directly to the DAC0 and DAC1 and was heard on the other side.

There is no line on the Main CTRL tab that shows that a direct route is possible around the SigmaDSP and FastDSP. I did do some trouble shooting and found that the signal would still work if the fast DSP was off but would not work with the Sigma DSP off. Is it correct to say that the signal was routed:

AIN2/3 -> ADC2 and ADC3 -> Sigma DSP ADC -> Fast To Slow Decimator -> to the DAC0 and DAC1?

Best Regards,

Dean

Hello Dean,

It would be helpful to attach your project. This part is rather complex so there is lots of places where settings can cause problems.

You have to zip up the file then insert it into your reply.

Hi Dave,

Yep I definitely understand that. I have some simple projects that work but they don't really address the overview that I was looking for in the above line of questions.

Of the several projects I'd like to build the first is that I'd like to create DSP signal chain that goes from the AIN2/3 to the ADC input to the FastDSP to the Slow DSP to the Headphone Output. Is this possible?

I have the ADC1 block from the IC1Fast Menu. What is the block for the output of the Fast DSP to connect the to the end of the Fast DSP signal chain?

Best Regards,
Dean

Here is what I have at the moment. I'm not sure the signal is running through the entire chain of both DSP cores.
