Connecting a guitar to adau1701
Hello everybody. I'm gonna use my adau1701 for guitar signal processing purposes. It's known that adau1701 has built-in ADC and DAC and my problem is following: adau can recognize and process a signal that I'm sending from my cell phone, but Adau can't see a signal when I connect my guitar directly to adc of adau. Thereby, I suppose problem is related with big output resistance of guitar pickups, but I'm not sure.
So, I have two questions:
1. How to connect correctly an electric guitar output and adau1701 adc?
2. Is adau1701 able to recognise lower half-wave of a guitar signal, or I have to implement DC component for the proper work of ADC?

have you tried testing puting another effect device between your guitar and ADAU? just to be sure there is not a signal amplitude problem.
Hi Forthan, there are two types of guitars, with and without pre amplifier inside, so diferente aproach.
Guitar without preamp: ( this type does not have battery on guitar )
This requires a pre amplifier between guitar and adau1701 adc, this can be made with ic like ne5532 ( any operational amplifier with low noise ), this is needed because signal out from guitar is too low ( compared to you cell phone )
Guitar with preamp: ( This type most of times have a 9v battery inside guitar, also with electronic tuner )
This does not requires an additional IC, because guitar already have you own, and sinal out from guitar is almost same level as your cell phone.
So, is not a simple project, connect guitar or microphone to ADAU ICs, this requires technical knowledge and is not so easy.
PS: ADAU1701 is not suitable for guitar and microphone effects, effects like reverb and echo are not possible as with pedals, however, as an equalizer works perfectly, in this case an ADAU1452 would be more appropriate.
