Hey guys,

I have mostly analog or general uC background and I'm looking for a recommendation for a DSP for first and further projects. I'm mainly working on audio-projects for musical instruments, meaning filters, reverbs, delays. As a first projects I'd like to implement an impulse response loader for a length of at least 100ms. Before I get started I want to hear your opinion on what would be the right plattform.

My preferred ideas so far:

1. ADAU1701+uC with DSP functionality (e.g. STM32F4) and Memory (very cheap, not sure if the performance will be good enough)

2. ADAU1452+Codec+small uC (not sure if the performance will be good enough)

3. Small SHARK or Blackfin Processor, preferably programmable via Sigma Studio (very expensive)

I'd like to hear your opinions or alternative ideas on the issue

Thanks, looking forward

Dennis

Hello,

I would recommend the ADAU1466 or ADAU1467 processor for this application. A 100ms impulse response will be fairly easy to load as an FIR filter. It will give you room to expand to larger IRs if needed.

The ADAU1701 will not be powerful enough, and the SHARC/Blackfin are expensive and have a steep learning curve.
