Hi all,

Im considering developing a multi-channel signal conditioning unit, which will communicate over wifi to the data acquisition system. The signal conditioning will be for full bridge strainguage sensors. I need some inputs in choosing the components and microcontroller/ DSP for this. I have some experience using Analog device ADCs with other microcontrollers for prototyping. Wish to know

1. How much of help the Analog processors can be, for this application

2. Inputs on possible components. Some points that may help advise. Im looking for a 16 channel system with a display for configuring inputs like strain gauge excitation voltage, read measured voltages, set gain/offset parameters, etc. Analog input resolution of at least 16 bit.Output data sampling rate of 100Hz.Good filtering capabilities to set cutoff frequencies.

3. I haven't worked on Analog processors before, so any advise on the kind of learning curve compared to similar other processors in the market, will help.

I know above may not be comprehensive info. Would be happy to discuss further, kindly revert with your queries for details.

Thanks for reading and look forward to have an interesting discussion.

Hi,

Analog Devices microcontroller units (MCUs) can be used in a multitude of IoT processing applications. They allow analog and digital sensing for interpreting capabilities with built-in ADCs, DACs, and temp sensors for precision sensing applications. Some of these MCUs can be powered by a single coin cell battery with on-board power management, along with embedded memory and security features to help protect our customer’s IP. These microcontrollers can be used in industrial, automotive, and instrumentation applications, as well as Internet of Things (IoT) applications such as Smart Agriculture, Smart Building, Smart City, Smart Factory, and Smart Health.

Precision Microcontrollers:

Analog Devices provides a range of analog microcontrollers featuring ARM® Cortex-M3 processors that help enable this product portfolio’s high precision, high performance, and low cost. By featuring ARM Cortex-M3 processors, our devices include a rich support system to aid product development throughout applications that include optical networking, industrial control, point-of-care diagnostics, and a variety of other industrial, instrumentation, and medical uses. Precision analog blocks including, but not limited to ADCs, DACs and references allow for precision control and measurements. Included also is the ability to read back diagnostics, which is a key requirement in the above applications.
