Hello,

Is there an easy way of making an audio matrix with ADAU1452? The plan is to route 16 TDM inputs to 16 TDM outputs (with some processing in between) in a flexible way (be able to control routing real-time from uC/custom app).

I know you have a matrix routing for ADAU1442 chip, available in Register Control tab. However, is there an easy way to make a routing matrix in schematic window of SigmaStudio, also with ADAU1452?

Best Regards,

Steve2020

Hello steve2020,

Yes, we have many versions depending on your needs.

Here is where you find them:

There are index selectable versions to make it easy to change between different snapshots/setups.

The Audio Signal Routers are great, they allow you to label the inputs and outputs. The level changes are slewed if you choose a slewed version. The downside of the audio router is that it uses a lot of resources (MIPS) so depending on your application it might not fit.

If you look at my screenshot you will also see I opened up the NxM Control mixer. These are simpler and use less MIPS.

So you have several choices.

I looked through my library of examples and I have one program I wrote a while back that uses the audio router. It is a small example but it has five mixes, these are the snapshots I mentioned. So one write can change the entire router. I attached the project below. Well, I tried to attach the file but there seems to be an update on the forum programming that is not giving me the option. Something changed. (Ugh!) I will attach it in the next post once figure this out.

I figured out that I can drag and drop the file into the window.

Hello Dave,

Thank you for your detailed explanation.

Yes, I have seen Audio Signal Routers and Mixers and they are almost exactly what I need (or perhaps I overlooked something).

The goal is to have a 16x16 matrix with real-time control. The Audio Signal Router gives me 16x16 matrix but (if I understand it correct) it is not possible to control it real-time (ticking boxes with desired routing do not create any data transfer). Making mixer presets is one way to overcome that problem but they are limited to 8 configurations, I would need enormous amount of different configurations going this way.

Dave,

I've been having problems with the forum s/w as well. The good news is that the issues are intermittent and often go away by themselves -- and as you found out, can also be worked around.

Hello Bob,

I accidentally found out that they did add a great feature. If you want to insert a file, just drag and drop it into the post window. It still needs to be either a picture file type or a zipped file but it is faster.

Plus, I have been using the snip tool in Windows to grab screenshots. Then going to the edit menu in the snip tool and selecting "copy" Then I can click in the forum post window and paste it in. Much faster.

I still have the issue where it looses the connection but it comes back. Then there is still the issue with the forum logging you out and not letting you know you are logged out. Then you cannot do anything and sometimes lose posts. I find that I remain logged in for exactly a week. So that is something to look out for.
