Dear AD,

I am writing some codes in the Designer Controls cell. Therefore, to verify my code, I would like to compare the output of the design cell with the output of a reference code in digital domain. Learning from the evaluation board user guide (UG-1532), the serial audio can be interfaced to external I2S/TDM compatible device from the header J4 and J40. However, I could not find further information on the matter.

Would you be pleased to provide a 'practical guide' to set the board for serial audio interface to an external device? Also, a simple project example would be very helpful. Thank you very much.

Hello A.Dey,

This is detailed to some extent in the datasheet. Page 57.

The difficulty in answering your question fully is that this part has so many different signal paths, two serial ports and two DSP cores so I have no idea what you need?

You will require an I2S/TDM serial to USB converter to get the data into a computer file for analysis. We do not supply these converters at this time. You cannot use the USBi board supplied with the evaluation board to do this.

So which processor are you using? What are the sample rates? If you can supply your project minus the designer cell that would be handy. Just place a note in the file to show where you are inserting the designer cell.

Dear Dave,

Thank you for your kind response. I had figure out how to use the J4 and J40 headers and third party devices for transferring and collecting digital data. As a matter of fact, the customer support engineer at the ADI local office had provided me an alternative solution with SigmaSim module, by which some signals can be exported into wave or ascii files.

Dear A.Oey,

I am a new commer for ADAU1787, i also want sestup to access digital data output from J4/J40 , can you please share your experience to me ? Such as the project file, or any instructions, thank you very much.

Dear Winvic,

I am sorry for my late response due to my inactivity. One important step to access digital data was to set the data flow path through the SPT_CTRL panel in the ADAU1787 register control. However, I could not share any project file and instruction because it was related to a s/w module provided under a customer support agreement.
