Hi there!

I am trying to access the UART interface through the DPI pins on SHARC 21489. Somehow it doesn't seem to be working. However it all works fine when I connect through the UART interface on the SHARC instead of connecting through the DPI pins. I am using a RS232 to TTL converter, connecting UART Tx and Rx on DPI 9, 10 respectively (i.e., Pin numbers 31 and 32 on the 60-pin interface). Could someone let me know what is the issue or where am I going wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Hi,

We believe you are referring to ADSP-21489 Ezkit. If so, can you please try to switch off the corresponding DPI enable switches for UART (Sw14.1 and SW14.2) and try? There is a note given in the EZ-kit manual(Pg. No.: 92/108). The link for downloading the manual is given below.
www.analog.com/.../ADSP-21489_ezboard_man_rev.1.1.pdf

"NOTE: SHUTTING OFF DIP SWITCHES SW1, SW2, SW3, SW7, OR SW14 ALLOWS A USER TO USE THESE DAI OR DPI PINS VIA THE EXPANSION II INTERFACE."

Can you please try this and let me know if you are able to get the UART signals via Expansion Interface?
