Hello, I have build a boombox with a minidsp 2x4 and 4 x Tpa3116 is really loud, but im triying to upgrade this with an ADAU1701 because i want to use Superbass algorythm and a limiter to reduce bass gain when the volume is so high but i dont know how to implement it in sigmastudio, i'll use the minidsp for crossover and parametric EQ so the ADAU will be between the bluetooth module and the minidsp and only is used for super bass and limiter.

Can you help me with this design?
Thank you.

Hello Diego,

SuperBass isn't available for the ADAU1701, but Dynamic Bass is, and it works well. It can boost bass at low levels while protecting your speakers from too much low bass. Its many adjustments appear confusing, yet its Wiki entry as well as this thread will help.

You can also build your own "bass regulator" from scratch. There's many ways to do it, yet perhaps the simplest way is shown below. You just split off the low end with a crossover, run that portion through a compressor, then re-unite the modified bass with the unchanged high end. The compressor's curve can be set to both limit loud bass and boost quiet bass.

The attached project runs on a ADAU1701MINIZ board; it should also work with a SureDSP or similar board with appropriate adjustments.

Best regards,

Bob
