Hello,

I am working on implementing the ADAU1701 into a headphone design but I am unclear about which pins to use for I2S on the 1701.

The proposed I2S signal flow is: BT Receiver -> ADAU1701 -> External DAC. (The ADAU1701 is only being used as a DSP, no analog function and would be I2S slave to the bluetooth receiver clock ).

Question 1: Is my table below the correct way to configure the GPIOs for my application (I2S Slave, data comes in, data processed, processed data output to dac)? Page 46 of the datasheet appears to say that the output ports (MP10, MP11) should be used when connecting an external DAC (regardless of master or slave but I want to be sure before I finish my layout..

Currently my pin configuration is as follows:

MP0 (Pin 11) = ADAU1701 Serial Audio Data OUT(the processed audio to be sent to the DAC)

MP6 (Pin 15) = ADAU1701 Serial Audio Data IN (from Bluetooth source)

MP10 (Pin 16) = ADAU1701 LRCK IN from Master

MP11 (Pin19) = ADAU1701 BCK IN from Master

Question 2: Just for good measure, the part can be used this way, correct? Whereas the ADC and DAC portions are unused but the DSP processes serial audio input and returns to some output pin?

Question 3: Should unused pins ADC0, ADC1, VOUT0-3 be left floating?

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,

Aaron
