My task is to measure a frequency responcse of a LTI system. I have an ADAU1701 and a microcontroller at my disposal. I have already solved the case when a sweep-generator used for measuring but I also have to implement another option related with measuring impulse response.

There is a method allowing to measure frequency response via impulse response. If I send an impulse (often represented with Dirac delta function) to a LTI system, I get an impulse response. If I use Fourier transform on the impulse transform, I get a frequency response. Despite it is described well in theory, I am not sure is it possibly to do with an ADAU1701.

Thereby, I have following questions. Is it possible to form an impulse using ADAU1701 and get an impulse response? What blocks of SigmaStudio should I use to form signal and to measure a response (I suspect it should be something like 'Square Wave' and 'Envelope Peak'). If it is impossible to measure in way I have described above, are there similar methods for measuring a frequency response?

Thank you in advance for any help.

I ve done it, but with a software, using just a samples with 1 amplitude , the result was ok but i think sweep is better, probably because 1 samples is not a dirac delta.

White noise is another way to do that
