Custom transport for sigma studio

We have integrated the ADAU1788 into a product, which drives the part using an I2C port on our main microprocessor.
We would like to use Sigma Studio to tweak/ adjust/ monitor the DSP but cant connect the I2C device (USBi) onto the bus due to physical requirements.
Is there a way we can add a custom transport to Sigma Studio to use our own transport which can proxy data onto the ADAU1787 via our existing communications.
Effectively we would like to write our own DLL/ EXE to interface with SigmaStudio.
Essentially replace ADIUSBi.dll with our own transport.
