Dear Team ,

I looked up the details for various Volume Controls in Sigma Studio and also read that the Single Slew Ext Vol (HW Slew ) uses fewer instructions than the Single SW Slew Vol ... is this true ?

When I looked up the compiler output ,the result is exact opposite of what I read .

The Slew Vol 1 uses 9 instructions

Whereas the SW Vol 1 used just 6 .

Can anyone explain this ...

Also please detail in there memory comparison

By my measurements:

HW Slew

Single Slew External Volume = 9 instructions

Single Volume = 8 instructions

SW Slew

Optimized Single Volume = 6 instructions

Accurate Single Volume = 7 instructions

The external volume block takes more instructions than the others because the gain in on an input pin. The optimized software slew is the least, but, as the name implies, the curve is only approximate. For one additional instruction, the hardware slew is even more accurate and gives you the choice of four slew curve shapes. None use more than 6 words of data memory as you should be able to see in the compiler window.
