Hello,

I'm using ADAU1978, can you please clarify the use of the digital DC high pass filter configured in register 0x1A bits 0-3?

Also, how is it working with enabling DC calibration (in register 0x0E bit0) and DC subtraction configuration?

Regards,

Bar

Hello Bar,

They both do almost the same function which is to remove the DC offset in the ADC. Which one you use will depend on your application. For most audio applications the HPF is the best way to use the part. The cutoff frequency is around 1Hz. So it will remove the DC offset so it is not a problem with any filtering or other DSP processing.

If your application requires that the ADC also passes DC then you cannot use the HPF and you would calibrate the DC offset so that the ADC will still pass DC but the offset will be small.
