I am trying to get the Adalm Pluto to work in Windows using GNU. I have managed to get the blocks in GNU from GitHub - analogdevicesinc/gr-iio: IIO blocks for GNU Radio however, when trying to run, I get the following error message: ImportError: cannot import name iio. How can I fix this?

Are the installed blocks in your path?

When you say "your path", do you mean a directory, or the %PATH% variable? Thanks for the help.

Your PATH variable and probably your PYTHON_PATH too. If your blocks are installed correctly you should be able to open a python command prompt and type "import gnuradio.iio" without an issue.

I found this post with same problem Issues installing gr-iio from PyBOMBS but installing all with pyboms and there is a ./setup_env.sh where the path and pythonpath are set.

I've tried in this way but still no luck.

any ideas?.

Hi Julianms and Ahmad10,

I just to share my experience that maybe useful to try it.

I'm the author post Issues installing gr-iio from PyBOMBS.

I'm using Ubuntu 17 on 32-bit desktop and currently work fine. However I try do to same method/installation on my laptop via Ubuntu 17 + VMware Player + Windows 7 32-bits, is not working very well, unable to install pybombs.

Then I try to install gnuradio using apt-get install gnuradio. Yes able to install and run the software. Next I install iio but unfortunately ImportError: cannot import name iio is display.

This indicates that platform selection may contribute this issue.

Its painful process , but we need to try and observe the error.

Good Luck.

As long as you have the gnuradio-dev packages you should be ok. If you want to build from source I would recommend the build script here: https://wiki.gnuradio.org/index.php/InstallingGRFromSource#Using_the_build-gnuradio_script

That will put libraries in the most logical places (basically your path on Ubuntu) and building the iio blocks should be error free (in my experience).
