Hi there,

I have a Multichannel USB streamer device that I wish to use to send 24 channels of digital audio to an ADAU1467, utilising 3 x TDM8 lines.

Therefore, I am hoping to just use Serial Inputs 0, 1 & 2 to receive the 3 x TDM8 streams.

The USB device says it always operates as clock master (i.e. the clock lines are always outputs).

Can I simply set the 3 x serial ports of the ADAU1467 to slave their clocks to the respective serial ports, or will I need to use the ASRC's?

I note that I can only have up to 16 ASRC outputs to the DSP for processing, therefore I assume I can't have 24 TDM inputs in my project if I need to use ASRC's?

Thanks for any assistance/guidance you can provide me.

Kind regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

It is possible to synchronize the DSP core to align with the USB Streamer's clock, without using ASRCs; as you mention the channel count available in ASRCs is limited to 8 stereo pairs.

You will need to use the "Start Pulse" setting to align the DSP core with the incoming TDM data.

Take a look at this post for some details; let me know if that works.

Thanks, Joshua! As you suggest, it is possible. I can confirm I was able to get one of my TDM8 lines to work over one of the serial inputs on the evaluation board without needing to use an ASRC. Which is a relief.

I am stuck with a similar but more difficult problem now. I have a Dante Brooklyn chip that I have set to send 3 x TDM8 lines out, but I know I definitely need to use the ASRC's for reclocking the Dante inputs. Obviously there are not enough ASRC's on the DSP core to handle 24 serial inputs, however, I'm wondering if there may be a way to make this work. Can I use an ASRC to reclock, and then somehow have my other serial inputs reference the ASRC output clock?
