What can the ADSP-SC584 EZ-Board's two wire Ethernet port (U7 on schematic sheet 16) be plugged into to use / evaluate it ?

Two wire Ethernet BroardR-reach, IEEE100Base-T1, IEEE 1000Base-T1 and IEEE P802.3b* (DC PoE) look set to provide useful capability.

Is the answer another SC584 EVB ?

Hi Martin,

The BroadR-Reach Ethernet PHY BCM89810 can auto-negotiate and link up to any BroadR-Reach compliant link partners. That is, any Ethernet switch or PHY, which is BroadR-reach compliant can be connected to it. That also means, an IEEE compliant PHY which does not support BroadR-Reach cannot link up to the BCM89810 in SC584 EZ-Kit.

To answer your question, to test the BCM89810 port, you could connect it to the BCM89810 port in another SC584 board using a normal Ethernet cable. Hope this helps. Please get back to us if you require further clarifications.

Thanks,

Vineetha
