Hello community,

1) I want to implement a clipper that follows the envelope of my audio signal with different time constants during the attack and decay of the waveform.

lN,c is the nominal clipping level set at 0.5

The constant a is given as

Under Dunamic Processors - Envelope should I use Envelope Peak or Mean Square Peak? I am having a hard time figuring out how I should define the block parameters.

At some later point i want to expand my signal envelope in the power of 1.1 but I cannot find a suitable block for this case. Should I use a log - lookup table to match envelope levels in the desired values?

Can you help me regarding these two question since I am not so familiar with sigma studio abilities?

Thanks a lot in advance,
Geo

Hello Geo,

I'm afraid the math is a bit above me presently, yet since the desired envelope detector features an exponential function, below is a circuit with an exponential decay. This arrangement was invented by another engineer on this forum some time ago, and it comes in handy in many applications.

Adjust the desired decay speed with the integer (28.0 format) number in the DC block -- the higher the number, the faster the decay.

Edit: Sorry the above circuit was for a -1701. It's really much the same for a Sigma 300 / 350 DSP like the -1466, merely the number formats change. Please see below.

Best regards,

Bob
