Booting BF-592 Eval Board
Hi,
i need assistance with the booting of the named eval-board. I did already flash the dsp with the AudioLoopback example from the support package.
I did it the following way.
build the dxe file from the example files via the debugger. used the dxe file in the debug directory.
used elfloader:
elfloader.exe -b flash -f hex -width 16 -dmawidth 8 -init audioloop.dxe -o audioloop.ldr -si-revision 0.1 -proc ADSP-BF592-A
then flashed via:
cldp -proc ADSP-BF592-A -emu KIT -driver "C:\Analog Devices\ADSP-BF592_EZKIT-Rel1.0.0\BF592_EZ-Kit_Lite\Blackfin\Examples\Device_Programmer\serial\bf592_m25p16_dpia.dxe" -cmd info -cmd prog -erase affected -format hex -file audioloop.ldr -cmd compare -format hex -file audioloop.ldr
The problem that occurs is that the dsp uses the flash but does not start properly. Sometimes it works if use the reset button on the eval-board to start the code, sometimes it starts immediately after powering the board and sometimes nothing happens at all.
Is the powering via usb necessary - i guess not?
What do i miss? Thanking you in anticipation.
Your loader command line looks to be suspect in a number of places:
1> If you are using the SPI flash memory indicated in your CLDP command line (m25p16), then you need to configure the LDR using the -b spimaster switch, but you are indicating a parallel flash with -b flash
2> All of the BF592 examples I have seen indicate the width should be 8-bit...but you are using -width 16
3> Assuming audioloop.dxe is your application, you are incorrectly identifying it on the LDR command line as an init block by using the -init switch. Because the BF592 doesn't have external memory, I don't think an init block is a requirement.
The above all said, I think your loader command line should be:
elfloader audioloop.dxe -proc ADSP-BF592-A -b spimaster -f hex -width 8
-Joe
Hi,
thanks for the reply. I understand now the spimaster switch. But i still have the trouble with loading a file from flash.
I do as u said to generate the loader file and then flash it onto the memory with the above described cldp command.
I encounter the problem that the routine from flash only starts when i plug in the power supply and the usb cable. Also i have to press the reset button to run. I tried it with my code and the audioloop.dxe (analog devices example). The same problems with both.
I thought after flashing it should be possible to just turn on the power supply and then the code should start.
In the debug mode everything works fine.
best regards
Manu
