Hi

Is there any possibility on the ADAU1452 to use a sample rate other than the system sampling rate for the SPDIF ouput? For example can I use 192kHz as system sampling rate and set the SPDIF sample rate to 96kHz? Creative ideas also welcome.

Thanks a lot!

Hello Kloppy,

The SPDIF output rate is set by the selection in the DSP Start Pulse register. So therefore, the SPDIF can only run at the same rate as the core.

There is really no good way around this.

Hello Kloppy,

The SPDIF output rate does follow the DSP rate as Dave said.

If you need to output other signals from the core at a lower rate, consider using the Upsampling and Downsampling blocks (with appropriate antialiasing filters) or ASRCs. With this approach, the serial ports can run at a different rate from the core.

Hi Dave & Joshua

Thanks a lot for your answers. I was hoping that we missed something but in this case, we'll have no other choice than using an additional, external SPDIF converter like WM8804.
