ADSP-BF531, program for SPI FLASH booting
Hello, dear colleagues!
Some times ago we use ADSP-BF531SBSTZ400 with SPI FLASH AT45DB081D-SU (by ATMEL).
(Processor SPI Master Mode Boot via SPI Memory
(BMODE = 11))
But now AT45DB081D-SU is obsolete.
The manufacturer recommend an AT45DB081E.
What program (bootloader) need to use AT45DB081E ( this memory has another internal structure, for example - page size, than AT45DB081D-SU)?
Thanks a lot!

Are you sure that page size is different?
As I see in datasheet both 081D and 081 have default page size 264 bytes.
Isn't it?
In my project I used AT45DB161D, now we are using AT45DB161E.
They are same.
My firmware works same with D and E letters.
Hi, Uriy
thanks for a help,
Could You clear, what page size memory need -
Standard DataFlash Page Size
or Binary Page Size?
I agree with Yuriy that this memory device looks to be fully interchangeable with the previous one. From the processor perspective, the same SPI boot ROM code will execute, so the only questions in terms of compatibility would be any customizations that you made as part of an init block outside the scope of the boot ROM. I can't see anything evident between these datasheets (both appear to have the same default settings), but you would want to verify that. Two more things, if you continue to use the ADSP-BF531 Blackfin processor:
1> The SPI port itself does not support Rapid-S, so you cannot configure that option.
2> You are still bound to SCLK/4 as the maximum SPI clock frequency, which would be a maximum of ~33MHz.

You can use both.
Default page size for dataflash or pow of 2 page size.
In mass production I prefer to use default page size.
In this case no need additional work for page size change.
But don't forget that first byte of firmware should be replaced to 0xFF.
If you don't fix first byte blackfin will not load.
