Hi All,

I am using ADSP21065L EZ-KIT Lite evaulation system and want to connect my daughter card via the EMAFE expansion connector. The system memory map provides EMAFE address location at 0x01000000 and EMAFE data location at 0x01000001 in external block 0 memory space. My daughter card will have a programmable address and DSP is supposed to read a fixed no. of bytes(using multiple read cycles) after geenrating particular address and WR/CS signals.

I couldn't find any sample code in the example programs explaining the sequence of putting address/data and control signals to perform read/write operation via EMAFE port. Could someone help me how to program the EMAFE interface properly to perform the desired operation.

Best Regards,

Adeel Malik

Hi Adeel Malik,

Sorry for the delay in getting back on this. On the EZ-KIT the CPLD takes care of generating the EMAFE signals from the external port signals of the processor. From the user point of view you may need to take care of the below steps in the code:

1. Configure the WAIT register to use a hold time cycle for memory bank MS1#. Please refer to the Interfacing with External memory chapter on the ADSP-21065L user's manual for more details.

2. Write the address from where the data need to be accessed to 0x01000000.

3. Read/Write the data from/to the address 0x01000001.

This should help you access the data from EMAFE. Though I do not have a EMAFE interface to verify the same, I could see this information from the EZ-KIT manual. Can you try the same and let me know if you see any specific issues? I can help you to debug further.

Best Regards,

Jeyanthi
