Hi,

Can someone please recommend an evaluation board with a DSP, and includes both A/D and D/A (supporting up to 200Ksamples/sec), which also has extensive DSP free libraries support?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Yaniv,

Usually, most of the ADI DSP evaluation kits will have an on board codec (ADC+DAC) chip interfaced with the DSP. As far as the DSP is concerned, you might want to consider SHARC processors for floating point processing and Blacfin for fixed point processing. More details about these processors is available at the link below:

http://www.analog.com/en/processors-dsp/products/index.html

For details on the evaluation kits available corresponding to these processors, please refer the following links:

http://www.analog.com/en/processors-dsp/sharc/processors/sharc_evaluation_kits/fca.html

http://www.analog.com/en/processors-dsp/Blackfin/processors/blackfin_evaluation_kits/fca.html

Hoep this helps. Please let me know in case you have further questions.

Thanks,

Mitesh

Dear Mitesh,

Thank you for your answer, it was very helpful.

I will consider purchasing one of the Sharc evaluation boards.

Where can I find DSP libraries and some useful bringup code to start with?

It the board supplied with it?

Thanks,

Yaniv

Hi Yaniv,

The information about various DSP run time libraries available for SHARC processors is available in the "VisualDSP++ 5.0 Run Time Library Manual for SHARC Processors" available at the link below:

You can find some basic codes examples to start with in the VisualDSP++ installation folder. For example, the codes for ADSP-214xx processors are available at the following path:

<Installation drive>\Program Files\Analog Devices\VisualDSP 5.0\214xx\Examples

Some SHARC code examples are also available at the link below:

http://www.analog.com/en/processors-dsp/sharc/processors/code-examples/resources/index.html

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you are looking for any further specific example or information about SHARC processors.

Thanks,

Mitesh

Dear Mitesh,

Which JTAG emulator (with a resonable price) do you recommend, for use with the next evaluation board (or any other Sharc DSP based board):

The ADSP-21489 EZ-Board (http://www.analog.com/static/imported-files/eval_kit_manuals/ADSP_21489_EZ_Board_Manual_Rev_1_0_April_2010.pdf)

Thank you,

Yaniv

Hi Yaniv,

If you are looking for a low cost solution, you can go for the Debug Agent board. Else, you can buy either a USB or HPUSB emulator. The following links have more details:

Thanks,

Mitesh
