Parameter Update cell in the Noise Reduction - 1452 .dspproj
Hi Team,
This question is from "Noise Reduction - 1452.dspproj" that I have downloaded from ADI website.
Please help with this "Disable Logic" Hierarchy Board" of how the "Parameter Update" cell can be used to disable "NR Low" or "NR High".
I have also attached the downloaded project file.

Hello Ping,
Not quite clear as to what you need help with? I guess with understanding what is going on and how it is done?
The audio is split into a high and low frequency components like a speaker crossover would do. So there are two NR cells. The NR cell has a button to turn on and off on the GUI:
So if you want to turn both the high and low frequency noise reduction at the same time you cannot do it. Plus, the GUI does not bring out the control so you can control it from something else in the schematic. So the only way to turn the NR on and off remotely is by writing to the parameter for the NR Enable. So there are two memory locations, one for the low frequency and one for the high frequency.
Besides being able to turn both of them on and off at the same time, there is also the convenience of bringing out the control to the main tab of the schematic. Then all the controls are right there on the same page.
So jump to the main page. For some reason the person who put this project together decided to split up the switch from the disable logic hierarchy block. Here I moved them together:
So this on and off will send this On/Off signal to the Disable Logic block.
Here is the Disable Logic block:
So this ON/OFF signal goes to two Parameter Write blocks.
They are setup to point to the NR Enable control.
Here is what that looks like when you click on the Select button:
As you can see it is pointing to the NR Low parameter. The other block is pointing to the NR High parameter.
So when you flip the switch it turns on or off the noise reduction. This write happens every sample period so the actual controls on the NR block in the schematic will appear to no longer work. This is because just when SigmaStuido changes the control the DSP program changes it back. It is updated every sample period.
Does this answer your questions?
