We have been developed Class D power amplifier using adau1452 DSP for audio signal processing.
We used the same SPI eeprom 25AA1024 (for self boot) as it is in Evaluation board connected to DSP via SPI.

Our problem is like as following:

We prepared all program and configuration with latest version of SigmaStudio. Also Dsp connected to the computer via SPI.
We can control all parameters of DSP via SigmaStudio real time, no problem.
When we want to write eprom program to DSP at the first attempt it looks like writing without giving any error. But after finished writing to Eprom and reset DSP manually, we notice that nothing written to Eeprom.

But when we try writing to eprom program just after resetting DSP, we can successfully write program to eprom and then DSP start to use latest self boot eeprom program. Everything is works fine.

We manufactured hundreds of power amplifier boards and to load DSP program twice for each board takes too much time.

You are kindly asked to help us to solve the issue. Are we ignoring a small setting in SigmaStudio, any bug might be, or any hints?

Hi, I suggest not using eeprom anymore, include the firmware for the dsp in your microprocessor code, so you can update it when you update the microprocessor code.

I use it this way and it works perfectly ( ESP32 with ADAU1466, but it can be any other processor that has enough flash size ), I can do automatic online updates for ESP, also online firmware updates for DSP, since in my case the firmware of the DSP is on LITTLEFS partition

In this way, whenever the consumer turns on his card and it is possible to connect to the internet, it will be updated, avoiding sending it for maintenance, if necessary bug correction or new features.

This also reduces PCB size and production costs as it is not necessary to buy eeprom for each PCB.

I was forgetting, this way, it also helps to protect or prevent your project from being cloned

Hello Necdet,

For others reading this post. I have been in email communication with this user and they found that the issue was with the PLL being reset upon download. They now report it is working well and they can program the EEPROM on the first attempt. I did study this and I do not fully understand why at this moment but it did solve the problem. Here is where this command is located, you right-click on the part GUI:

When you select this it will change to "Enable Reset of the PLL upon download". So this is what they did and it solved the problem.

Rocha, the reason why some people use the EEPROM is because they may not have a system controller and are using the DSP stand alone which is a great feature of the part. Others only need some simple tasks for a controller to do so they only use a small controller which may not have the room for the entire program and it also complicates the code writing.

You did make some good points and I do not disagree. So I like hearing other ways to do things.
