Thread Summary

The user sought to test the ADAU1772 converters using the Serial I/O with an Audio Precision APx555 analyzer. The solution involved correctly connecting the 2-pin headers to J4, using the provided example projects for I2S configuration, and ensuring the APx555 operates as the clock master. Key issues included incorrect clock frequencies, improper register settings, and unbalanced I/O connections, which were resolved by resetting registers and verifying signal routing in SigmaStudio. The user achieved SINAD of 78.x and ENOB of 12.7, confirming the setup was correct.

I have a loaner Audio Precision APx555 analyzer and would like to test the converters of the ADAU1772 using the Serial I/O.

I am using the ADAU1772 eval board and am not able to get the Serial I/O on the analyzer set correctly to test the board.

Is there any discussion somewhere that goes into detail on how to configure the APx555 to work with the eval board?

bklein,

The EVAL-ADAU1772Z User Guide should have some good information on where to connect the Audio Precision to the EVB. (https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/user-guides/UG-477.pdf)

Specifically, J4 can be used to connect the 2-pin headers from the Audio Precision Digital Serial I/O cables to the EVB.

For configuring the Audio Precision, I have attached a basic example project that brings I2S input to DAC output, and a 2nd example project that brings ADC input to the Serial Port output. I have attached their corresponding SigmaStudio projects for reference as well. Hopefully these should help as a reference.

Thanks, I've run out of time with my APx loaner and we'll have to buy one to try your files :-) I decided to just evaluate all codec eval boards Analog In Analog Out. I had a USBi recognition problem with the ADAU1401AEBZ board and it grew to the point I'm totally dead in the water. I'll post a separate question on it so it has its own topic.
