Analog mic connection
Hi,
I am working with ADAU1787 Evaluation board. I am trying to connect analog mic. microphone image is shown below. i connected it to AIN0. there is no output at speaker. is there anything wrong in connection. can I connect AUX cable at AIN0,AIN1,AIN2/3 directly to play music. is there any need of dc adaptor because it is without it also. I tested sine wave. it is working properly.1882.adau1787.dspproj

Hi,
I successfully played music with ADAU1787. I connected AUX cable at AIN0,AIN1,AIN2/3 and it is working properly. issue is only with analog mic. is there need of pre-amplifier. mic I used is shown in above image.
Thank you
Hello harishsharma,
The mic in the picture is setup to receive power from the jack to power up the mic. The connector is a TRRS type of connector. The connectors on the eval board are only TRS and are not setup to apply power. So you will need some custom wiring to adapt the audio wire from a TRRS to a TRS and then add the circuitry to power the mic.
The ADAU1787 does have a PGA so it can amplify a microphone. It may be earlier to obtain a mic pre amp that will power the mic and give you an output onto a TRS signal. Do a search on the web. They should be available for a reasonable price.
