SigmaStudio Toolbox
Hi,
I would like to use the "Loudness (Low and High) External Control" block from the Toolbox.
The practical example using a rotary encoder is missing from the Wiki entry.
Is there an example elsewhere for both rotary encoder and potentiometer external control?
Many thanks,

Hello REH,
Someone should add the example referenced but not included in the Wiki entry! Here's a pot example:
The Aux ADC converts a 0 - 3.3V pot input to a decimal (5.23) number between 0 and 1.0. Multiply this by integer (28.0) number 32 and you get a number between 0 and most likely 31, since integer multiplication rounds down. The lookup table has 33 rows between 0 and 32 -- one more than the expected input simply because I'm paranoid about over-running the table. Unless you use the Index Limit Protection version of the LUT (which burns more instructions), going over gives unpredictable results. The LUT output is a decimal number from 0 to 1 which is what the Loudness Control needs. The LUT rows are arranged to simulate a "log taper" volume control, as shown below:
After wiring your pot to the correct MP pin for the Aux ADC to be used, make the appropriate MP setting in the HW Register Controls tab (my -1701 board has a pot wired to Aux ADC 3):
The easiest way to handle an encoder is the Rotary Volume Control. Fill in its Lookup Table as above.

Bob

Thank you Bob,
I have been away from the office and just read your reply.
I am still on a SigmaStudio learning curve but will try to work through your examples.
Best regards,
Richard.
