The user asked about the main information in the compile output window for ADAU1452 with SigmaStudio 4.7. The final answer explains that the key metrics are instruction cycles and memory usage, with 627 cycles (11% core power) and 329 words (2% DM0 memory) used. The engineer also noted that each module in the schematic, like the Tone block, has specific instruction and memory requirements.

hello everyone! I use ADAU1452+SigmaStudio4.7. What is the main information in the compile output window? What does the row and column of the table mean? Can someone help me? I need to explain relevant knowledge to my younger brother, but I don't understand.

Hello javaboy,

The main thing to note is the instruction cycles and memory usage.

There are totally 6144 cycles per sample period at 48KHz. The above pic shows the instruction cycle count of 627.

(627/6144)*100 = 10.2%. It is approximately 11% of the core power. That is shown in the above picture.

There are totally 20480 words (a word is 32-bit) of memory in DM0 and DM1 each.

DM0 shows 329 words has been used.

(329/20480) * 100 = 1.60% that is apprx 2% of DM0 memory has been used. The same applies for the DM1.

The DM0 and DM1 are data memory, to know more about this. please refer page.no 96 of the datasheet.

So, to monitor the Instruction cycles,DM0,DM1,PM usages we are using this compiler output to make sure that we are not exceeding the core power or the memory given.

You can see those things for each module in your schematic. For ex, take the Tone block. It takes 18 instructions to run, and it holds 10 words (each word is 32-bit) in DM0 for its parameters and so on.

Regards,

Harish
