Engineering Tools Questions
When doing signal processing with ADI, how do I know if the signal is up to snuff? I want to record a signal from start to finish, do I have to use an external acquisition program?

Hello javaboy,
It looks like you are using the ADAU1452. I assume you have one of our evaluation boards?
The evaluation boards have a built in codec so you can go into the codec analog and then it converts it to digital and sends it to the DSP. Then the DSP sends digital audio back to the codec where it converts it to analog and that is available on a 3.5mm jack. So you can go in and out analog and use an external audio test equipment like an Audio Precision to test the audio performance.
The ADAU1452 also has SPDIF inputs and outputs. So you can obtain an optical SPDIF to USB converter and go directly into and from your computer into the DSP bypassing the codec.
You can also obtain a USBStreamer that will take an I2S/TDM digital signal and convert it to USB. It is not super easy to use so you have to be well versed in the hardware. But it can be done.
The other option is to use some sort of audio interface to go into a DAW and use that software to capture and playback the audio. Options are almost endless.
