ADAU1452 absence of response over I2C
Hello,
I need your support in order to figure out what doesn't work in the communication between STM32 and ADAU1452 over I2C.
At the time I am basically trying to replicate what I can successfully do with ADAU1701 (successful programming and control over I2c through STM32 with the output generated from SigmaStudio for a basic project).
I have an inexpensive board, for which I don't have a schematic.
#disabled the self boot by putting pin34 (SELFBOOT) to GND via Jumper,
# set the address via pin 32, 33 (ADDR1, ADDR0) to GND -- I expect the 8bit address (RW bit included) to be 0x70
#Reset pin is not accessible via connector, so I trust that it does a correct reset at power-on
#Pull-ups for SDA and SCL are present and integrated on board.
I expect that device, after power-on, to respond to I2C interactions via pin 30, 31 (SDA, SCL), but I don't get and ACK.
I tried, just to be sure, to perform an I2c-SCAN over the full pull of addresses without response.
Am I missing anything?
Thanks for your precious feedback.
Regards,
GZ

Hello GZ,
Your hardware connections look okay.
Just for a confirmation, make sure that you have given the connection as the below diagram.
Keep the wires short and it is a good idea to wrap ground wires along with the I2C signals. This will mostly avoid signal integrity issues.

If the hardware reset function is not required in your system, then pull the RESET pin high by tying it to the IOVDD.

Make sure the resistor values are around 2.2k.
Please attach your scope shots if you have any. These are all the main things to note in the hardware side. If it still doesn't work, then we may need to see the programming parts.
without the board schematic it's quite hard to say what's going on. Anyway, get back to us with your results.
Does your DSP board work well when you program from sigma studio?

Harish
It answers Now,
The Pull-up resistors were 10K, too much. I paralleled them with 4.7K. The address is as expected (0x70 ).
Thank you:-)
