Inquiry about Integration of ADAU1701 and STM32 for Real-time FIR Filter Coefficient Adjustment
I am planning to develop hardware that incorporates a FIR filter for audio processing, and I intend to use 512 coefficients in my filter.
I am considering using the ADAU1701 for this project. I would like to know if it is possible to integrate the ADAU1701 with an STM32, allowing the implementation of 12 different sets of coefficients for my FIR filter. The idea is to store these sets on the STM32 and include an encoder to facilitate the selection and switching between them.
My main question is whether it is feasible to send and dynamically adjust the FIR filter coefficients in real-time to the ADAU1701 from the STM32. I appreciate any guidance or suggestions regarding this process.

You certainly can!
The active registers on the ADAU1701 (and other ADAU chips) are writeable over SPI or I2C during active runtime. You can change register values and the will reflect right away.
For more complex or permanent things that rather require an entire reload or rebuild of the project, you can write binary files to the runtime RAM of the ADAU1701 or the I2C EEPROM of your product or board.
Please see the datasheet section "RAMS AND REGISTERS" for more information: www.analog.com/.../adau1701.pdf
Yes as HumbleDeer said. Note a 512 tap FIR uses half the available cycles on the 1701. Note you probably should mute the audio when you are changing the coeffs to prevent audible artifacts.
