Can I use Sigmastudio 4.7 to implement a digital equalizer with a single frequency dynamic range of +20dB and -60dB?

Hello Axvn,

Please refer the below schematic for simple param eq implementation

You can achieve +20dB inside the core (32 bit in 8.24 format), once the data goes outside the core then the 32-bit data is saturated to a 24-bit data in 1.23 format.

Inside the core the format is 8.24. So, if you increase the gain inside the DSP, you can avoid clipping because of these headroom bits. However, when you output from the DSP to the DAC or the serial output port, the top 7 bits will be truncated (saturated) and clipping will occur. 0dB is the full-scale value.

Please look at the picture below.

Kindly do reply if you need further clarification.

Regards,

Harish

hi Harish,

Sorry, I'm just recently learning about ADI development, and what you mean by that I can't think of an equalizer with a single frequency dynamic range of +20dB to -60dB?

Thanks for the answer, I've implemented this dynamic range equalizer.
