add in XLR input
HI i built a stereo 2.1 speaker beginning of the year. It runs off the sure wondom jab5 amplifier with built-in adau1701 dsp.
I currently have it running using just Bluetooth and it works perfectly well.
However i spoke to someone a while ago who also built a speaker and asked if i had XLR input so we could connect our speakers together. They also said i could use that same XLR input to connect dj decks to my speaker if i wanted. Which would be a great option and something id like to have.
I have been trying many options out and researching a lot but Sigma Studio is not my strong point its quite confusing to me so if anyone could explain if and how i could program in for a XLR input that would be great. I have attached my sigma studio file for how i have it set for this speaker. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Jack,
I did not look at your project yet but the Wondom board does have stereo line in on a 3.5mm jack. It will be single ended but I am not certain what level is full scale since they never share the schematics. The best way to do this is to have an active differential amplifier front end to get good common mode rejection and then a pad to lower the level from the usual nominal +4dBu professional levels down to probably somewhere around 0dBv if I am to guess on what Wondom designed. Then have a single ended driver output. The two XLR input stages would be wired to the single stereo 3.5mm jack.
So this is all in the analog world before the Wondom board and way before the SigmaStudio program. You probably have nothing to change there since Wondom has a line in as a feature.
You can wire an adapter cable to go from two XLR cables to one 3.5mm but it is far from the best way to do it and how it needs to be wired fully depends on what is going on with the output stage of what is driving it. This paper form Rane is a good start. The older version was more detailed.

The simplest way will be to use a transformer.

Thank you Dave T for the answer and explanations. I think I understand roughly what you mean.
I have also read elsewhere and been told I may need to wire in a switch (a few on/off switch comes with the amplifier board) and then set it within sigma studio for on is Bluetooth and then off is XLR. And so when one input is on the other is shut off.
Would that be correct? If so would you have a example of how I would set that please, or able to add it into my project so I can see it properly?
Thanks again
