Hello,
I have a question about time constant used in lockin amplifiers namely SRS Model SR865AM.( https://thinksrs.com/downloads/pdfs/manuals/SR865Am.pdf
Page 62 Heading:Time Constants and Sensitivity)
I'm using ADAU1466 DSP in my application and need to implement time constant with ADAU1466 DSP.
Question is if I can use Average Envelope Detectors to implement time constant mechanism used in lockin amplifiers, or any advice
Kind Regards

Hello Husnu,

This is the purpose of the envelope generators. To develop a moving DC value based on time constant settings. I suggest you experiment with an oscillator and some envelop generators to see what you get. The built in oscillators output exactly 0dBFS signal in 1.24 format.

I will attach a project I did a while back for comparing envelope generators and a custom RC envelope generator. You can turn on a graph and see the result and use a readback to see the level.

The peak envelope generators will instantly react to the peak of the input signal. No time constant for the attack, just for the decay. The average envelope follower will allow you to select a time constant for attack and decay.
