Hello,

I need to calculate the input signal variance and divide by the samples in order to calculate max_mu variable step size in a lms algorithm.

Is there anyway to do this?

.

software

ADAU1787

Integrated/Special Purpose A/D Converters

Audio CODECs

Hello AudioSignalProcessing,

We need a little more info as to the details of what you want to do? I can read this a few different ways.

1) add the samples and divide by the number of samples to obtain the average

2) subtract two samples and divide by the sum of the two samples?

3) sum up a number of the difference of the samples and then divide by the number of samples?

You see that I can interpret what you wrote in different ways so please be more detailed in what the calculations need to be.

If you are subtracting the previous sample from the current sample then how do you deal with the sample going negative? Do you get the absolute value?

How many samples?

Thanks,

Dave T

Hi Dave,

My goal is to calculate the variance of the signal and with this set the maximum and minimum values for some gain blocks.

I think my goal si the first option you wrote as I need the average of the signal.

Also I have some issue with ReadBack and Update Parameters blocks. They seem dont work and I saw some posts with the same issue but without answer. Could you please advise me about this? I think this is previous step before the variance calculation.

Thank you in advance
